Obituary

On September 12, 1965, Carolyn Powell and John Weldon Wallace, Sr. welcomed their first born son. They lovingly called him, John Wallace, Jr. John was the oldest of his three brothers and one sister.

John attended Sam Houston Elementary, Gilcrease Middle School, and McClain High School, where he graduated — Class of 1983. He was later employed with Tulsa Public Schools.

John never met a stranger and was always the life of the party. He was a loyal friend to many, having friendships that lasted more than twenty years. He was a hard working man who never went without a job. He loved his family and all the times they spent together. John loved to cook, especially BBQ.He was the self-proclaimed, “King of the Grill.”

Meeting John at Heaven’s gates include his paternal grandparents. Robert and Carsie Wallace, and maternal grandparents, Earvon
and Lucille Powell.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Carolyn Powell, daughter, Sha’Nae Frazier, son, James McCullogh, grandchildren: Kemonie, Ariyah, Arielle, Keelan, Keevette, and Kennedy; brothers: Phillip Wallace, Craig Wallace, and Tyrone Wallace, sister, Alva Johns, longtime friend and mother of Sha’Nae, Rochelle Frazier,special friend, Tara Hubbard, and a host aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 2, from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., at Butler-Stumpff & Dyer Funeral Home, 2103 East 3rd Street, Tulsa, OK 74104.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 3, 11:00am, at Greater Union followed by interment at Green Acres Memorial Gardens.
