LaKeia Gaines

I have fought good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith, now there is in store for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous judge will award to me on that day and not only to me but also to all those who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8

On, June 19, 1995 a beautiful baby girl was born to Luretha Gaines and Jarod Drew affectionately named her, LaKeia Rashon Gaines. She was lovingly called “Chickie” or “Stinka- Mama” by close family and friends.

At an early age Lakeia confess a hope in Christ under the leadership of Rev. Wilbur Ware at First Baptist Church – Taft, Oklahoma.

Chickie’s educational foundation started in elementary to where she found the love of basketball from her favorite coaches, Coach Shonika Breedlove and Coach Shartese McHenry who saw the special gift she had. After the school doors closed in Boynton, she then took her talent to Ponca City Middle and High School. Although she didn’t get to play her Senior Year, she was the Manager for the Duncanville High School Girls Basketball Team in Duncanville, TX where the team finished 28-0 and won State Championship in Austin, TX. LaKeia graduated with the Class of 2013.

Funeral Services for Ms. LaKiea R. Gaines 24, of Muskogee, Oklahoma will be 2:00PM Saturday February 15, 2020 Timothy Baptist Church 5530 West Okmulgee Street Muskogee, Oklahoma 74401.

Burial will follow in Black Jack Cemetery Black Jack, Oklahoma. “Visitation will be Thursday 3:00PM til 8:00PM Dyer at Butler-Stumpff Funeral Home 2103 East 3rd Street Tulsa, Oklahoma and Friday 1:00PM til 6:00PM Taft Gymnasium Taft, Oklahoma.
