I was shocked to hear of the passing of Richard.Richard was my classmate( Carter G. Woodson. Class of 1970) and two houses over neighbor. I will always remember you trying to teach how to shift gears in your volkswagon. My prayers, love and sympathy goes out to the family. RIP my friend

I first met Richard when he moved to Tulsa with his cousin Joetta. He was a very ambitious, caring, dedicated, helpful, handsome, positive & sincere young man. Just saying the least. Richard had a heart of gold. I honestly enjoyed being in his company. After I moved to California we stayed in touch often, however as time went by we lost contact off & on. The last time we talked, he hadn’t changed, he was facing daily challenges while still being a good strong man. So much pride. He had the prettiest smile. My deepest condolences to his son’s, his siblings, my second mom, Joetta & the rest of his family and friends. God Bless you all!!! Richard earned his wings!!!

To the Garrett family, Ray Gene or Mark you have my deepest condolences during the loss of Richard. I pray that you are comforted and know that we will one day see our loved ones again. I hope the celebration of his life will be jubilant as it would be fitting for him. I have not seen Richard in many years but his smile is what left an impression on me. I love you all Lydia Gaines and family
