Obituary

Visitation for Elversa will be held on Friday, March 3, 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., at Butler-Stumpff & Dyer Funeral Home, 2103 E. 3rd St., Tulsa, OK 74104.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 4, 11:00 a.m., at Christ Gospel Church followed by interment at Green Acres Memorial Gardens.

Elversa Louie Barnes was a beautiful gift given to Napoleon and Lena Mae Louie on
October 1st, 1954, in Boley Oklahoma, both of whom preceded her in death.
Elversa was a member of Christ Gospel Church West Tulsa for many years. In the early years she served diligently as a Sunday school teacher, youth helper, and she also attended the Black Eagles prayer group. In her latter years, she wrote question for the Youth Quiz Team. She loved the Lord and the Saints of God. She also loved to worship in Spirit and in Truth.

She attended school in Tulsa, Oklahoma where she graduated from Booker T. Washington class of 1972. Elversa worked at Coca-Cola for many years as a dispatcher where she retired from. She loved to make many different crafts. God gave her a remarkable gift as a seamstress and a tailor. She made wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, prom dresses, and she got to make her granddaughter’s Quinceañera dress and many other beautiful works of art. She also had a strong love for aquariums and animals.

In the year 1986, she met the love of her life, Mr. Terry Barnes and raised four beautiful children and she also loved her three stepchildren.

Elversa is preceded in death by her father Napoleon Louie, her Mother Lena Mae Louie, her brother’s Napoleon Louie Jr, and Mark Allen Louie Sr., her sister Louis Peacox, and her son Derek Lamont Walker.

On February 22nd 2023 at 7:04am, she answered the Master’s call and went home to receive her reward for a job well done.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband Terry Barnes, her three daughters Nikila Nichole Beard (husband Dwight Lenal Beard Jr), Nina Eusheka Melendez (husband Alfonso Melendez), Terri Marlena Reynolds (husband Kenneth Reynolds) and three stepchildren Charnita Stephens (Husband Rodney Stephens), Kenya Barnes (wife Natalie Barnes) and Allie Barnes. Also, grandchildren: Anasiah Deshaun Walker, Dejah Nichole Walker, Trent Alexander Walker, Derek Nicholas Beard (wife Jayla Breyon Beard), Demari Kylie Beard, Kylie Shyann Nichelle Beard, Alfonso Ashton Mateo Melendez, Zion Akin Joshua Melendez, Akashi Koren Versella Melendez, Milo Jaki Melendez and Zuri Ni-Tye Eusheka Melendez. Great grandchildren: Kamora Nycole Goldsby, Cairo Lamont Beard. She also leaves behind her brother Lloyd Louie and sisters Shirley Littles and Nina Dumay, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Also, her beloved pets Julio, Boa, Summer and Buffyand her many relatives and friends from around the world. They will all continue tohold her in their hearts & thoughts.
