Obituary

On January 20, 1973, a hand and a heart full of joy was born to Paul and Rosie Reed.  They welcomed into this world two handsome twin boys, Dwight (Peanut) and Dwayne (Popcorn) Reed who were born one minute apart.  They were the first set of twins born to the hospital that year. Growing up, Dwight was lovingly called “Peanut” by all that knew and loved him, but as he got older everyone dropped the “Pea” and just called him “Nut”.

He attended high school at Tulsa’s Central High School where he made friends who would become friends for life.

He was his own man.  Being a great provider for his family, Dwight was an excellent carpenter.  He could use his hands to build just about anything.  He was a master at his craft.  Things he built today will last for a lifetime.  To know Dwight was to know that he was a perfectionist and he pushed those around him to be their best as well.  When it came to his family, he shined the brightest and did his best work. If he loved you, he fussed at you.  He loved his children with every fiber in his body. He was there for the little steps as well as the big ones.  They knew they could rely on him, and they made him proud.  Providing for them in all ways but especially with wisdom, love and joy.

Nut loved music of all kinds and he was never far from a beat, a tune or a song.  His friends would laugh and joke about his rapping. He would randomly drop some bars for any occasion and you better be ready because he was pretty good at it.  In his spare time, Nut was also a classic car enthusiast.  He would often be found with his twin at the “shop” helping in any way possible. He was a jack of all trades and a master of almost everything, as if he were a “superhero” of some kind.

Dwight is preceded in death by his grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, nephew Dakari Reed and some very dear friends.

Left to remember his life, love and legacy is his father, Paul B. Reed Jr. of Haskell, Oklahoma and mother, Rosie Reed-Erivin (John) of Tulsa, Oklahoma; children Raven B. Reed. Ambre’ C. Reed, Dwight B. Reed Jr., Dallis B. Reed, Armani K. Reed and Gia B. Reed; siblings Pamela Reed; Philip Reed, Kyaula Reed and his big twin brother, Dwayne Reed, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma DeShauna (Ron) Washington of Houston, Texas; nieces and nephews Creason Reed (Meagan), Sheena K. Brooks, Dwayne B. Reed Jr., Brandon Conchitas, Darius Reed, Dewaylen Reed and Denver Reed. Brothers from another mother, Corey Porter, Darrel Williams, Rendal Brewer, Marvin McCoy, Alie and Stephen Rentie.  And a host of other relatives and friends.  He is loved by so many it’s impossible to name you all but please know there won’t be a day that goes by that he won’t be missed!

In all ways the journey is as important as the destination. God is not merely interested in taking you somewhere, He intends to make you someone in the process. The twists and turns, the tempests and trials…these are all the INGREDIENTS He uses to transform you into the kind of person you were intended to be all along. It is vitally important to remember: How we get to the end is every bit as important as that we get there; because how we get there, the choices we make and the way we live, determine who we are when we arrive! Dwight has arrived. Now it’s up to us to Trust The Process!
