Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary A. Welch 67 of Tulsa, Oklahoma died Sunday with her twin by her side
Saturday June 18, 2016 2:00pm
at Greater Sunrise Baptist Church 1205 E. 46th St North Tulsa, Oklahoma

On August 30, 1948 in Alachua, Florida, Candie Bell Natille and Joe Nathan Welch lovingly welcomed the birth of their twin daughters, Mary and Martha. Mary being the eldest twin became the fifth of seven daughters born to this union. Geneva, Mabel Betty, Edna, Mary, Martha and Laura.
Mary Ann Welch was raised in Alachua, Florida upon completing High School the family relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma. She graduated from A.L. MeBane High School.

Mary accepted Christ as her personal Savior and enjoyed attending Sunday services at St. Andrews Baptist of Tulsa where the Spirit of the Lord was always present.

Mary believed in hard work and dedication she was initially was employed as a laundry clerk. However with the caring spirit that Mary had and with willingness to care for others, she enrolled at Tulsa Junior College pursuing a degree in Nursing. Mary later became a nurse assistant at St. Francis Hospital and after 25 years she retired from her labor due to disability.

Mary in her spare time enjoyed sewing and designing clothes. She was a vast collector of figurines which are simply called, “What Nots.” Her beautiful outgoing personality nurtured the competitive spirit in her which drew her to love sports. She loved football, basketball and all other sports. However she was not too keen on baseball.

Although Mary was never wed or birth any children she was committed to her family and poured her love in helping her twin sister raise her children David and Michelle and they affectionately called her Nanny.

On June 12, 2016, after 67 years of life, Mary with her twin by her side relinquished her life on this earth to claim her eternal life with the Heavenly Father. She will forever reunited with the parents, Joe Nathan and Candie Bell Welch along of her aunts and uncles.

She leaves to cherish her memory six sisters, Geneva Waters of Jamaica, New York, Mabel (Wilbur) Phillips of Tulsa, OK, Betty Battle of Sarasota, Florida, Edna Stephen of Labelle, Florida, her loving twin, Martha Daniels of Tulsa, OK, Laura Rodgers of Texas and step-sister Lois Ellison of Alachua, Florida; her nephew and niece that she raised as her own, David Daniels of Tulsa, OK and Michelle Penn of Bakersfield, California and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
