Willa Nance, lovingly known as “WL,” passed away on July 29, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 80, after a courageous battle with illness. Though she is no longer with us, she is now at peace and pain-free.

Born on July 2, 1945, in Forrest City, Arkansas, WL was the beloved daughter of Rev. Miles Jackson Jordan and Susie May Jordan (Benford). She moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, at an early age, where she graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. A few years after high school, WL met Lorenzo Nance, and from that union they welcomed a daughter, Angel Marshall (Nance)

In the early 1970s, WL moved to Dallas, Texas, where she built a long and successful career at Texas Instruments and later at Raytheon Technologies, retiring as a Senior Photolithography Specialist. She enjoyed her time in Texas, living the country life, where she made lasting friendships and thrived in her profession and retirement life.

After retirement and facing health challenges, WL returned to Tulsa to be closer to family, where she continued to live a full life surrounded by loved ones. Known for her unmatched cooking and warm hospitality, WL’s meals—though they may have taken all day to make—were always worth the wait. Her kitchen was a place of love, laughter, and comfort.

WL also had a deep love for fishing and shared countless memories with those lucky enough to join her by the water. She found joy in occasional trips to the casino with her niece Sharon and cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, especially watching them play and sneak snacks from her stash of junk food.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Angel Marshall; her granddaughters, Jonica Jordan and Lekeisha Recess; and her great grandchildren Jacara, Brooklyn, Madyson, Myles, Jordyn, and Braelyn. WL also leaves behind her loving brother Charles Jordan (Diane); her nieces across Texas, Oklahoma, and Chicago; and a host of great-nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who will carry her memory forward with love.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Rev. Miles and Susie Jordan; her siblings Florence, Queen Esther, Robert, Roosevelt, and Duece; and her nephew Marvin. WL is now resting peacefully with some of her favorite loved ones, reunited in eternal peace.

WL’s warmth, strength, and generous spirit touched everyone she met. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
