Obituary
Phillip James Trunels was born on September 28, 1972, in Wichita, Kansas, to devoted parents James W. Trunels Jr. and Johnnie Mae Simmons. He grew up in Tulsa and was educated in the Tulsa Public Schools system, attending Emerson Elementary, Monroe Elementary, and both McClain and East Central High Schools.
From a young age, Phillip loved staying active. At 12, he found joy in playing soccer, and throughout his life he enjoyed riding bicycles with his daughter, nieces, and nephews. He especially cherished friendly video-game competitions with the younger members of his family.
Phillip also had a natural gift for nurturing plants and took pride in his love of foliage.
For 33 years, Phillip shared his life with the love of his life, Kelley Coyle Together, they raised five grandchildren who lovingly called him “O-Paw.”
Phillip leaves behind a heartfelt message for those he loved: “If you think something is wrong with your health, don’t wait like I did. Please go get checked before it’s too late.”
He is survived by his loving mother, Johnnie Mae Simmons of Tulsa; his life partner, Kelley Coyle of Tulsa; his children, Dameon Coyle, Denisha Trunels, and Kaiya Adair; his nephews Marquvian and Domanick Trunels; his niece Taynequain Trunels; his great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of family and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
