Obituary
On April 2, 1934 a beautiful baby girl was born to Alvin and Octorene Tyler in Tallahassee, Oklahoma. They named their precious baby girl, Ossie Lee.
In the early morning of May 9, 2023, Ossie transitioned from this life into her eternal rest.
At an early age, Ossie received Jesus Christ into her heart
under the pastoral leadership of the late M.V. Ferguson of St. Andrew’s Baptist Church, where she loved to serve as an
usher and sang in the choir.
Ossie often told the story of how she met the love of her life, the late Carnell Haynes. One day on the school bus, she said their eyes locked and she knew in her heart they would be
married one day. That day was October 1, 1966. For over 50 years, Ossie spent her days building her home as a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed cooking, some of her favorite dishes her family loved was her German chocolate cake, sweet
potato pie, greens, and her fried chicken.
Ossie leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Charles Boyd, Thurman, Cheryl and Rodney Armstrong, and Carvella Gaines (Haynes); siblings: George Tyler and Lois Watkins; 9 grandchildren: Tiara, Joi’dionna, Jasmine, Rhonda, Racheal, Damanie, Kahari, and Tasha; 10 great grandchildren, and a host of nephews and nieces whom she loved and cherished.
Procededing her into eternal rest is her late husband, Carnell Haynes, son, Emmanuel Haynes, mother, Octorene Toliver, father, Alvin Tyler, brother, Albert Tyler, and granddaughter, Amber Woodfork.
A Public viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2023 from 7-8pm at Butler Stumpff & Dyer Funeral Home.
