  1. The teacher that believed in the talents and future of every student. She did not judge but appreciated the beauty of every student at Thoreau.

  2. Dear Mildred’s Family, I came to Thoreau in 2019 and as a new teacher, Mildred made me feel so welcome and like I had been at Thoreau forever. She brought me food and treats now and then, but when in my area, she always stepped in to say, “hi” and asked how I was. One day we were dressed in a very similar color scheme and a picture was taken of us to document that day! From that moment on, we called one another our “twin”. I will dearly miss her loving spirit and beautiful smile!! Heaven gained an angel for sure!!!!! Praying for the families’ understanding and peace at this time. Sincerely, Jennifer Nash Jennifer Nash

ildred was always so sweet, we grew up at Mount Olive Baptist Church under the great mother Pigeon Mrs. Ratcliff Johnson who help us grew into the great women we have become. May god bless and keep this family as you find your peace.

  4. My dear friend (and lunch buddy). I miss you so much. We have been through so much together. I know you are no longer tired and you are happy and singing with joy. I love you always!!

  5. Daily Mildred would check on me, by casually strolling through my room, and during the afternoons, I would check on her. During meetings her eye s would twinkle a understanding, and we would laugh about something funny together. Once I remember we had a conversation regarding our favorite meal out. Hers was steak! She LOVED a good steak, and we spoke many times how there should be a great steak buffet. Mildred, I so hope that you now get to enjoy all of your favorites all of the time! You will be missed daily, as we kept track of each other. Thank you for the Mardi Gras beads!!! Love and peace, Jamie Boudreaux
