Obituary

“When this life is over I’ll fly away”

LaRita Viola was born to Osborne Vernon Thomas Sr. and Katherine Latoure Thomas on November 6, 1952 in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

LaRita was christened at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Larita was a member of the graduating from Manual Training School with the Class of 1971. She was a majorette under the leadership of Ms. Avalon Reece. Upon completing her secondary education, she attended post-secondary education and became a licensed LPN.

LaRita was blessed with three beautiful children Gregory, Lecretia and Catina. She loved each of them as only a mother could!

Larita was well known and loved by many. She was commonly known to all as Ms. Rita. She had a very giving heart and she never met a stranger. LaRita opened her home to anyone in need of a place to stay. She will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

On the day of May 20, 2019 Ms. LaRita transitioned this earthen vessel for her new, everlasting clothes on the other side.

LaRita was preceded in death by her parents, Katherine Latoure and Osbourne Vernon Thomas Sr.; nephew, Robert Thomas, sister Patricia Thomas Ankrom.

LaRita leaves to cherish her memory in God’s care her loving and devoted children to include, son, Gregory Mitchell of Oklahoma City, daughters, LaCreita Benita Smith, Moore, OK, and Catina Thomas, Memphis, TN; sister, Kathy Allen, Muskogee, OK; brothers Osborne Vernon Thomas, Jr. (Billie), Arlington, TX, and Harrison Thomas, Tulsa, Derrick Thomas, Moore, OK; loving aunt Mildred Colbert and special friend, Ramono Hardred both of Muskogee, OK. along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren other family & friends.

Memorial services will be held 11:00am, Monday, June 3, 2019 at Beebe CME Church, 700 S. 7th St. Muskogee, OK.
