Obituary

On the glorious day of July 6, 1997 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Soconda Boyd and Gerard Thompson were blessed with the birth of a beautiful baby girl, Gerasia Quinshea Thompson. She was affectionately nicknamed, “Rae-Rae” by her father. Gerasia was lovingly raised in the home of her great-grandmother, Mama Carlis Thompson and father, Gerard Thompson along with her aunt, Gerran Thompson and raised alongside her big sister/cousin, Janayshia Grundy.

Mama Carlis’s home was the gathering place for all her family. Papa Greg Thompson would stop by every day to mentor and share his love. Both girls would spend weekends with him and learn how to use computers and things about life. She was adored by her parents, her mother Candy was her biggest fan cheering her on to Victory. She was always in her corner. Her dad Gerard would give his daughter the talks about life and was there on the spot when she needed him. Gerasia was so loved and will be greatly missed by her family.

Gerasia “Rae-Rae” grew up in the Jehovah Witness Hall with Mama Carlis. However she would always attend the services and events at Hallelujah Church as a young child throughout her adulthood with her cousin, Janayshia. In 2017, she rededicated her life to Christ and became a member of Hallelujah Church. Gerasia loved to pray and search scriptures. She understood the foundations of Christ and we are confident that she is forever with the Lord.

Gerasia attended Burroughs Elementary, Byrd Middle School & Central High School. She was very creative and talented. She was a rising artist with many amazing paintings. During special family and church events, she would volunteer her time creating decorations and artwork that would bring a smile to all who attended. She loved to sing, have fun and enjoy life. Gerasia was the life of the party and bright light to her family and friends. To know”Rae-Rae” was to love her.

Gerasia was blessed with two beautiful children, Prentice King Winston and Jakhia Marlae Winston they were the light of her life. She lived for her children with the hope that she could give them a good life. Gerasia struggled with a lengthy illness and her children were her reason for fighting for her life. She would always declare she would not give up because of them.

On early Saturday morning, June 16, 2018, Gerasia’s struggles with this life were over and God in His infinite wisdom saw fit that she be ushered into a place of “No More.” She was preceded to this place by her great-grandfather, Prentice Thompson, grandmothers, Maedealla Boyd, and Georgia James.

Gerasia will be forever in the hearts of those she leaves to cherish her memory: her beautiful children, Prentice King Winston and Jakhia Marlae Winston; her parents, Soconda Boyd and Gerard Thompson; great-grandmothers, Mama Carlis Thompson and Alice Wright; her grandfathers, Gregory Thompson and Hank Boyd; grandmother, Louise Payne; big sister/cousin, Janayshia Grundy; her siblings, Sharmaine Boyd, Jino Boyd, Gerae “Shay-Shay”, Gerard, Jr., Gerriah, Germond, Gercari, Isaiah, Gerriyah, Geried, Kameron, Tristan, Tumicha, and Za’ryan Thompson along with a host of aunts
