Obituary
On This day, March 5, 1949, Celestia “Lucy” was born into the union of Willis Sr. and Odessa Hanley – Richardson.
Lucy attended Marian Anderson Jr. High and Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After completing high school, she attended Tulsa Junior College for two years.
Throughout her years in life, she worked in various fields of employment, but child nutrition was the field of work she enjoyed the most.
Celestia was married to Samuel Hopkins shortly after graduating high school and from that union two children were born. The marriage was later dissolved.
Lucy was always an individual who worked hard and lived a life of self-determined and always strived for what she wanted; her motto was, “Don’t wait for someone to hand or give you anything, get up and go get it for yourself.”
She was always trying to help others whenever possible and never looked for anything in return. If you ever needed to understand what a strong independent woman looked like; all you needed to do was gaze upon Celestia.
Celestia was a longtime member of the ELKS IBPOEW Wheelers Temple #1337 where she served as Dtr. Ruler and also as the club treasurer for the Lone Riders Horse Club.
Lucy, as she was lovingly known, is preceded in death by her father, mother, six siblings and two great-grandchildren.
Cherishing their fond memories of Lucy will be her four children, Samuel L. Hopkins, Cheryl A. Hopkins, Lisa L. Pannell and Sarah A. Hopkins; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two brothers, Paul Richardson and Glen Richardson as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed and forever adored.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022, 1:00pm at Latter House Family Outreach Ministries. Burial will follow at Warrior Cemetery in Checotah, Oklahoma.
