Seola was born to Audie & Lovena Sanders, born and raised in Blackjack Oklahoma. She was 1 of 13 children.
She went to Blackjack school, graduated in 1956. She moved to Tulsa at a young age, met and married Benny Boyd Sr. To this union she birth 6 children all boys.
She worked at Oklahoma Steel as a cook and later worked at St John’s Hospital where she retired. After retirement, she began working at Walt Whitman school as a cook, she was known for cooking and baking. The kids and staff loved her cinnamon rolls and cakes. She later retired againHer favorite pass time was going garage sales and going to Walmart. She would always buy something for someone.
Seola loved her family, especially her sons. Family meant a lot to her she would do anything for anyone. If you were in the hospital Seola was there, if you were home sick Seola was catching a ride to come check on you. She always said “that’s what family is for”. She enjoyed talking, you could call her any time of day and she would always say, “I’m awake” listen and talk to you. She had a heart of gold. Her heart extended to the kids in her neighborhood she always kept big vases of candy on her table and a fridge full of pop. Little kids and grown kids all enjoy coming over for a snack. She was known as the candy lady. Her heart was not limited to the living, she went out her way to go to Blackjack and decorate the burial of family who preceded her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Audie Sr and Lovena Sanders, two sisters Jacqulyn Jones and Barbara Hill; seven brothers, Andrew (AJ), Audie Lee Jr, Joe George, Van (Tatum), Lawrence (Tony), Donald (Donny), Myron (Ray) and one son, Montgomery (Monty) Boyd.
Survived by: Sons — Bennie (Veronica) Boyd Jr of Tulsa Ok, Benson (Helen) Boyd of Tulsa Ok, Jody (Teresa) Boyd of Tulsa OK, Demetrius (Loretta) Boyd of Tulsa ok, Kevin Boyd of Tulsa. her siblings, Vernon Sanders of Atlanta GA, Kenneth (Carolyn) Sanders of Rogers Arkansas, Lynn (Hilda) Sanders of Tulsa Ok. along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Seola B. Sanders-Boyd 79, of Tulsa, Oklahoma will be 10:00am Saturday June 15, 2019 Shiloh Baptist Church 1124 North Martin Luther King Blvd Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Burial will follow in Black Jack Cemetery north of Taft, Oklahoma. “Visitation will be Friday June 14th 2019 3:00pm til 8:00pm Butler-Stumpff & Dyer Funeral Home 2103 East 3rd Street Tulsa, Oklahoma 74104.
