On Monday, Mav 2, 2022, Sister Ruth S. Crane, 70, loving mother, grandmother,
sister, aunt, cousin, friend, transitioned from this life to enter into eternal rest with our heavenly father.

Ms. Ruth (as she is fondly known) was born December 15, 1951 to Arthur “Tee” Simpson and Mary Jewel McGlothen Simpson, both deceased. She was the oldest of three daughters.

Ms. Ruth grew up in the tiny town of Mt. Lebanon, LA before the family moved to Gibsland, LA. She accepted Christ at an early age, uniting with the Springfield
Missionary Baptist Church where she served in the choir, Sunday School, Director of Vacation Bible School, established the Young Matron’s Ministry, instituted the
Annual Harvest Tea Festival, and numerous other ministries. After moving to
Jonesboro-Hodge, she attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and served in numerous other capacities.

She received her education in Bienville Parish, graduating from then, Coleman High School in 1969. After high school, she went on to further her education via
Grambling college graduating with a BS degree in Business and Distributive
Education in 1974.

While attending college at Grambling, she met and fell in love with her soon to be husband, Willie Crane. They were married in May 1972, shortly after the birth of their son, Marcus Derek Jerome Crane. The couple physically separated for a time due to Willie’s out-of-state employment, while Ruth, remained in Gibsland with her parents. After a time, the couple was reunited, and shortly thereafter, a precious addition was welcomed by the family, a daughter, Willandria Michole Crane.

Ruth was employed with the Bienville Parish School System from January, 1979
until December 2009.

She began her employment as receptionist/secretary, the first African-American to hold that position. She later advanced to the position of Sales Tax Clerk for the
Parish of Bienville and Accountant of Federal Funds.

Though she held a degree in education, Ruth never taught in the school system.
Instead, she used her talents in various other ways. Prior to her employment with the Bienville Parish School System, she was employed as Town Clerk for the Town of
Gibsland. Later she was elected Alderwoman, serving two consecutive terms. She briefly served as Mayor Pro Tempore, another first for an African-American female.

Ms. Ruth loved to sing and had the voice of an angel. She loved glorifying God using the gift He gave her. She sang with several gospel groups and choirs including the, Gospelettes, and the North Louisiana Workshop Choir. Her favorite song was —”There’s a Brightside Somewhere,” which became a crowd favorite. She also
enjoyed cooking and experimenting with new dishes. The foods and desserts from her table could be described as mouthwatering.

But most importantly, Ruth knew and loved God and recognized Him for who He is; and she loved spreading the good news about our Saviour whether you wanted to hear it or not. Ms. Ruth was a force to be reckoned with.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories a son, Marcus Crane (Justine), Tulsa, OK; a daughter, Willandria Crane, Atlanta, GA; two sisters: Charieszetta Simpson. Shreveport. LA, Rosetta Ryder (Darryl), Gibsland, LA; three grandchildren, KeAndralyn, JaMarcus, Jasmine, all of Tulsa. 0K; two greatgrandchildren: Jeremiah and Josiah Willibv and Jaesius Harris-Wiiliby; three nephews.
