Obituary

On January 29, 1954, in Lawton, Oklahoma, Floydia Mae Cox and James Melvin Wright welcomed into the world a beautiful baby girl who they named Phyllis Elaine Wright. Phyllis was reared in Wagoner, Oklahoma. She attended Wagoner Public Schools from preschool through high school. Graduating from Wagoner High School in 1973.

Loving the Lord with all her heart, Phyllis accepted Christ at an early age. As a child she was a member of Union Baptist Church. As an adult she united with New Degree Praise Center under the direction of Bishop QL Bell. Any scripture that talked about the goodness of the Lord was her favorite.

Phyllis lived in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She worked in daycare and in Home- Health. In both of these professions, she did what she loved to do — Help people. Her loving heart allowed her to help all who was in need.

Enjoying life and her family was part of her driving force. Phyllis enjoyed attending family reunions and spending time with her family. She loved to cook and decorate. No matter when you called her on the phone, the last thing she would say is, “I Love You” and she meant every word of it. Her biggest hobby was shopping and she did it well. Phyllis loved life.

Meeting her at Heaven’s gate will be her parents, Floydia Mae Cox and James Melvin Wright; brothers, Thomas Taylor and Johnny Taylor; a grandson, Rodney Reed.

`Phyllis leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Yolonda Jones Reed (Derek); her grandchildren, D.J. Reed (Oife), Kayla Reed, and Rodney Reed; sisters Patricia Harris (Randy), Barbara Reynolds and Joyce Gough all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; god-children, Keasha Bowling and KeDravian Harris. And a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family friends.
