Obituary

Mary T. Doakes Jackson was born on May 31, 1941 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to T. George Doakes, Sr. and Christine Griffin Doakes.

Mary attended Tulsa Public Schools, graduating from Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1959.

She was employed by Western Union until God called her from her job into full time ministry to work for Him. Having a strong desire to serve and please God, Mary studied to show herself approved! She served in many capacities at her church of 52 years, Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ. Those ministries included but not limited to missionary, purity class leader, workshop developer and assisting with the Women’s Department to name a few. In 1977, at the request of Pastor James and Lady Marilyn Hill, she assisted their ministry (Northside Christian Center) with evangelism and church growth. The ministry grew from 8 to over 500 members through their ministry work.

Missionary Jackson loved the Lord and eagerly obeyed His call on her life. She has ministered throughout the United States and abroad in Belize. Missionary Jackson developed workshops for church growth, taught for the Charles Harrison Mason Bible College and she was a Workshop Coordinator/Education Director of the Oklahoma S.E. Jurisdiction Women’s Department. Missionary Jackson was the founder of the North Tulsa Bible Institute and the Pursuit of Excellence Project. She directed the North Tulsa Neighborhood Alliance as well as being a foster parent and trained other foster parents for the State of Oklahoma. Mary Jackson received many recognitions and awards in the secular and religious arenas. God’s servant has won many souls for the kingdom. Missionary Jackson loved people and she loved GOD. He loved her too and snatched her into eternity.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her youngest brother, John and son-in-love, Santos Motley.
