Obituary

“It is with sadness yet hope in the enduring power of the Risen Jesus, that, as Latrece’s daughter and son and on behalf of our family, I want to thank all of you for your presence this day. Mother so loved her family and friends and your expressions of love and support have carried us through this trying time.

Words, of course, could never capture completely the richness and beauty of mom’s life and legacy. As a devoted wife for nearly 33 years, mother to her two children, Amber and Bryant Goree, owner to two big dogs, sister and dear friend to so many, mom was one of a kind. She enjoyed visiting musuems, Zoos, and botanical gardens. She loved music; I could walk by her room and hear her humming sometimes or singing. She was a scary movie fanatic and had the most knowledge about snakes we had ever seen. She would be able to tell a python from a viper and it would always seem the coolest to see her identity a poisonous from non-poisonous.

One of the many characteristics of mom that still puts a smile on my face is, she was just so passionate about everything that she did. Whether it be at her job, being a mom, or giving our daddy a hard time, and the way she was able to so easily make us smile and make friends with the people that came into her life. She was strong and grounded, and always knew what to say. Her hugs will be missed. Her and my dad were soulmates, best friends, and team mates in life. And she will forever be the most special vessel to our family.

During mom’s illness, I don’t know what we would have done without the love of close friends and family. She was a warrior through the entire fight, even the days she was so exhausted; all her and our dad know how to do is fight. She has won the battle, and has now gone home to the Lord, her mother Sharon, and family and friends that welcome her at the gates of heaven. Mom’s most endearing quality, of course, was her love and faith in the Lord Jesus. May the Lord Jesus, now welcome her to her eternal home and bring her a peace and joy that knows no end.“-Goree Family
