Mrs. Geraldine Prudom

April 10, 1932 - April 01, 2021

Obituary

On the 10th day of April in 1932, in Boynton, Oklahoma a beautiful baby girl was born. Named
Geraldine by her mother Mary Elizabeth Johnson. Upon seeing her, family members said she was so lovely she looked like a “Doll.” She was affectionately called “Doll” by her family and friends for her entire life. It seems a short eight decades filled with memories.

Geraldine Prudom, only days away from her 89th birthday, of Tulsa, Oklahoma died quietly while sleeping in her favorite chair at home
on April 01, 2021.

Geraldine, the youngest of eight children, was raised in Okmulgee County, a proud Dunbar Tiger. Marrying the love of her life, Adam Samuel Prudom, together they raised five children: Mary Lou, Gwendolyn, Samuel, Kenneth and Larry. Geraldine and Adam remained married until they were parted by his death. They are together again and forever with the Lord. Preceded in death by her eldest son, Samuel, her parents and siblings they will be joyfully reunited in heaven.

Geraldine valued and supported her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in their pursuit of education throughout her life. She instilled the importance of education into her children. Coming from the old school of thought, believing that through education anything was possible.

Geraldine’s passion was cooking. She loved spending time in the kitchen creating delicious meals for family, friends, and church members. An avid collector of cookbooks and recipes which she used to search for new and delicious dishes often creating her own specialties. A tough minded achiever, she combined her love of cooking with employment. Often working nights and days. When urban renewal bought-out her employer of many years, she and a co-worker partnered to open Bell’s Bar-B-Que on historic Greenwood. The business was successful until once again the property was sold. It was at this time, she began working for Tulsa Public schools, from which she retired. Long after the closing of Bell’s former customers contacted her for her“locally famous” sauce.

Mrs. Prudom’s faith and devotion to God led her to become one of the founding members of Full Gospel Family Outreach Ministries of Tulsa, Oklahoma where she remained until her death on April 01, 2021.

Geraldine loved God, worked hard, was generous, loving, kind, giving and compassionate. She was an exceptional woman who touched lives with her gentle spirit and smile. Geraldine carried her belief outside the church walls showering everyone she met with
God’s love.

She is survived by her four children, four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 11:00 a.m., at Butler-Stumpff & Dyer Memorial Chapel, 2103 E. 3rd Street, Tulsa, OK 74104.

Mother… oh how I will miss our talks. Every time I find a new and unusual cookbook I’ll think of you. I did not get the cooking skills like you, but you passed onto me the joy of reading a cookbook. I will treasure the memories I have and so glad you were able to meet your great great grandson. I have the pictures to remember the joy you had when you saw him for the first time. Love always…. #2 grandchild.

  5. Gwen, your Mother was an Angel. I wish I had known earlier of her passing. My condolences to you in your loss. May you find comfort in Christ, the only one who gives true comfort. I have known your Mom since I was probably 4-5 years of age and she was always glad to see me when I ran into her out in public. God speed!!
