Obituary

A Celebration of Life

Fannie Mae Gibson-Giles was born on November 20, 1950, she was the second oldest child to Fannie Mae (Danzy) Halley and James Halley Sr. Spending her childhood between three different areas, Fannie grew up in Buford Colony, Sand Springs and Tulsa. Ultimately graduating from Charles Page High School in Sand Springs with the Class of 1970.

After high school, she attended Tulsa Community College and from there she attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma in 1973. She obtained Bachelors as well as a Master’s Degree in Psychology. Her dream was to one day open her own private practice as a psychologist; however; God had other plans for her career and called her to be a teacher. Fannie Mae spent most of her career as a teacher at Gilcrease Middle School and then as a counselor for McLain High School until she retired at the end of the 2012-2013 school year.

Fannie confessed her love for the Lord at an early age. She was a member of Oakhill Baptist Church in Buford Colony, Oklahoma. Where for years she was a devoted Sunday school teacher.

Fannie Mae was a proud member of the educational base sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She displayed her loved and admiration for her sorority by maintaining and growing collection of elephants, a Delta tradition. Mae was a positive example for younger siblings and was someone they looked up to for guidance and assistance with their academic needs. Though she put fear in them, they all later learned it was for their own betterment and success. Her students often referred to her as “Moma Giles” or “Moma G”. Many of whom to this day speak about how she helped them.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Brenda and Glinda; nephews, Eljuan and Alvareze; grandson, Anthony Jr.; great nephew, Devin; great niece, Talia.

She leaves to cherish her memory, children, Anthony Sr. (Rhee) of Phoenix, Arizona, Demarion and Brianna; one guardianship son, Jamie; grandchildren, Charmaine, Antoinette, DesMonique, Demarion, Jarald, Jasmin, Denahi, Amir, Ayshon, Ibrianna, Adrianna, Derrick and Shawn; sisters, Ruby (Tyrance) and Doris Ann; brothers, James Jr., Willie Dee and Randy; sister in law, Emma; nieces and nephews, Jamiz, Donna, La Toya, James III, Latricia (Marlo), Willie Jr., Cory, Toya, Michael, Donnie, David, Jasmine, Keiah, and Tyrance II; along with a host of great grandchildren, great nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and numerous friends

Funeral Services for Mrs. Fannie Mae Gibson-Giles 68, of Tulsa, Ok will be 10:00am Saturday September 21, 2019 North Peoria Church of Christ 2217 N. Peoria Ave Tulsa, Oklahoma 74106.

Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Skiatook, Oklahoma. “Visitation will be Friday 3:00pm til 8:00pm Butler-Stumpff & Dyer Funeral Home 2103 East 3rd Street Tulsa, Oklahoma 74104.

    Miss Gibson was my teacher at Gilcrease high School there in Tulsa Oklahoma, Ms Gibson was a very beautiful, beautiful woman she came to work everyday dressed professional everyday she will definitely be missed
