Obituary

“Goodnight see you in the morning, Mother”

From Labor:

Agnes Elizabeth Madden was born on April 6, 1941, to Sylverstein “Susie” Goudeau and Willie “Bill” Gaines in Okmulgee, OK. At this birth, twins came into the world and were named, Alice and Agnes. They were two of six children born to Ms. Goudeau.

Agnes attended Tulsa Public Schools including Dunbar Elementary, Carver Middle School and Booker T. Washington High School where she graduated with the Class of 1959.

Agnes attended Private Industry Training School after high school and pursued many formal employment opportunities in her lifetime including doing work in Home Health Care, City of Tulsa, Private Duty work, until she retired.

Agnes met and married Woodrow Rentie. To their union, she brought into this world 7 children but was a mother to many. She never met a stranger and was always willing to help those in need in whatever way she could. She opened her home to those in need and because of her love and big heart, they would often stay and just become just like one of her very own children.

Agnes was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She believed in family first and treasured her family. She had a vivacious personality and made people around her laugh and feel at ease in her presence.

Agnes gave thanks to God daily for her life, that of her children and all those whom she loved as she knew that only God could have sustained her for these 78 years.

To Reward:

On the morning of Wednesday, May 15, 2019, God called her home and gave her a new name, a new body and a new way to worship Him. Agnes was escorted into the gates by her beautiful baby girl, Tammy Lawaun Liggins. Meeting her at the gates is her twin sister Alice Brantley. She was joined in Heaven by a host of family members including her mother, Susie Goudeau; father Willie “Bill” Gaines; brothers, Wilbert Leon Smith, Sr., Douglas Tiel, Charles Gaines, Alonzo Gaines and Jewel Gaines; her sisters, Dorothy Tiel-Grayson, Marian “Bootsy” Bruner and Doris Gaines; son-in-Law Charles Liggins, nephew, Charles Metoyer; eldest grandson, Johnny Paul Dabney, Jr., nieces Carol Sue Wilson, Vicki Cain, Sylvia Hill, and a great nephew, Charles Stacy Brown, Jr. and a host of other family members gone on before her.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Sherri Rentie, Marcus (Louella) Madden, Sandra K.
