Obituary

William Junior Connery

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

Another limb has fallen for our Family Tree. William Junior Connery was born to William Douglass Connery and Vunetter Roseborough Shepard on October 26, 1955 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. The family moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma where William joined Central Baptist Church under the pastorage of Reverend Morrison and a few years later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. He attended Charles S. Johnson Elementary, Geroge Washington Carver Junior High and became a Carver Wildcat then attending and graduating from Booker T. Washington High School in the Class of 1973.

Joining with Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Tulsa, Poochie as he was loving called, loved the Lord with his whole heart and had a blessing for everyone. William joined the military straight out of high school. Upon his return he worked Job Corps, where the young people at the center loved, respected and looked up to him. He also worked for a flower company where he learned to arrange flowers and became quite good at arranging them. Riding and racing motorcycles was something that William cherished. He served as a motorcycle escort for Jack’s Memory Chapel. William wanted young people to know that motorcycles were dangerous and not handling them with care and understanding they could be killed. He told his story as an example.

William’s heartbeat to his existence was the birth of his son Will. They were inseparable until his motorcycle accident left him paralyzed. He volunteered as a teacher’s assistant at Will’s school until he left to go to another school.

William departed this life on Friday, September 20, 2019. He was preceded in death by Maternal and Paternal grandparents; mother, Vunetter R. Shepard; his father, William Connery and brother, Leo Shepard.

He leaves to cherish his memory, son, William “Will” Connery of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two brothers, Leon Shepard and Truson Connery both of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four sisters, Ruvell Johnson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Ella Knapper of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Linda Colbert of Phoenix, Arizona and Brenda (Stephen) Gunn of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; aunt, Patricia Brown of Tulsa, OK; uncle, Larry Brown of Oklahome City, OK. And a host of nieces, nephews, great and great, great nieces and nephews, cousins, family and friends.

His services were Saturday 10:00am World Won for Christ 2121 North Harvard Ave Tulsa, Oklahoma 74115.

Burial will follow at Doyle Cemetery west of Taft, Oklahoma “No public Viewing” When caring truly matters, DYER cares.” 918-425-5549
