Obituary

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

On February 22nd 1938, DeNorval Carlos Lawrence, Sr. was born to George W. Lawrence and Leota V. Lawrence in Kansas City, Kansas. He was the second child of three children.

The family later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. He attended Booker. T. Washington High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma graduating with the class of 1956.

After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. During his military career he was stationed in Seattle, Washington from June 1956 thru June 1959, where he received an Honorable Discharge from active duty.

He accepted Christ at an early age, and united with New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. For many years, he served faithfully in various ministries and as a Deacon until his health failed.

For 40 plus years DeNorval was employed by Rockwell International and later Boeing Aircraft/Spirit Aero Systems, retiring in 2010.

His parents, brother, sister and two sons, Dwayne Curtis and David Christopher preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife, Wilma of the home; one son, DeNorval Carlos Lawrence, Jr.; stepson, Gerald (Rhonda) Thomas; and beautiful five granddaughters, Sara, Miranda, Tanner, De Saundree and Mazsaunlli, two great-grandsons, and one great-granddaughter; four sisters-in-law, Lela Webb, Ruth Knox and Mildred Kalimah all of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Opal Donaldson of Houston, Texas along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Saturday March 23, 2019 New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 3427 North Birmingham Ave 74127 Tulsa, Oklahoma. Senior Pastor DeSean A. Jarrett will be the Eulogist. Burial will follow Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Skiatook, Oklahoma.

Visitation will be Friday March 22, 2019 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Butler-Stumpff & Dyer Funeral Home, 2103 East 3rd Street Tulsa, Oklahoma.
