Reflections of his Life………..Billy Joe Williams

Billy Joe Williams was born December 7, 1953 in Tulsa, Ok. to Addie Lee Williams (Marks) and Billy E. Williams, the second of five children blessed to this union. He was born and raised in the church and attended First Baptist Church, North Tulsa until his graduation.

Billy Joe graduated from Booker T. Washington Class of 1972. He then went on to serve in the Navy from September 1974 and honorably discharged in April 1978.

During his lifetime, Billy Joe had only one Son, Derrick LeRon Beard (Williams). Later, he met, and married Barbara Harris. He lived and worked in the Tulsa area and retired from Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital. Billy Joe never met a stranger. He had a host of friends that was always there for him. If anyone knew Billy Joe, you knew he was a colorful character, full of wise cracks, jokes, and delightful language. But he had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back. He lived a full life and was the epitome of a “Free Spirit”. He loved his family and made every effort to always attend family gatherings.

Billy Joe is preceded in death by both of his parents, Addie Lee Lewis (Marks) and Billy E. Williams. A Stepfather Joe Lewis, Sister Teresa Marie Thompson, Wife Barbara Williams, his Son Derrick Beard. He is survived by his brothers, Bobby Joe Williams (Kathy), Oklahoma City, Ok., Ricky Williams, Wichita, Ks., and sister Lisa Gray (John), Portland, Or. and host of loving Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He will surely be missed.

  2. TO THE FAMILY OF BILLY JOE WILLIAMS: Matthew 5:4 – Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted. I grew up in church (FBCNT) with Billy and also went to same high school (BTW) with him. His brother Bobby is my friend and classmate. I hadn’t seen Billy in years and the last time I saw him was at his dad’s funeral several years ago. My condolences to the family and my thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. 🙏🏽 May the fond memories you hold dear bring a smile to your face and lighten your heart in the days, weeks, months and years ahead. ❤️ Much love, Brenda Shaw-Morris
