Obituary

Marva Jo Johnson was born on January 10, 1946, in Yakima, Washington, to the late Deacon Herman and Loretta Witt. She graduated from Garfield High School in Seattle, Washington, where she proudly sang in the Choir, nurturing a lifelong love of music and fellowship.

Following graduation, Marva devoted 40+ years to a fulfilling career, serving in a variety of meaningful roles. She worked in the Blueprints Department at The Boeing Company and later as a Group Home Case Manager, where she provided compassionate support to adults with special needs. Her kindness, patience, and genuine concern for the well-being of others left a lasting impact on the many lives she touched.

Before retiring, Marva found joy in serving as a food service worker. She was especially cherished by the children she greeted each day with a warm smile and caring heart. Her gentle spirit, calm presence, and unwavering compassion earned the admiration and respect of both the children she served and her fellow colleagues.

Throughout every stage of her career, Marva approached her work with grace, dedication, and a servant’s heart, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, faithfulness, and love that will be remembered by all who knew her.

In her younger years, Marva was a devoted member of the Local #8 Singers Association, where she sang under the leadership of her mother, Loretta Witt, and Mae Campbell. Marva was blessed with a rich, versatile singing voice that effortlessly spanned from soprano to tenor, allowing her to minister through song with remarkable depth and beauty. Her time with the association was a cherished part of her life, reflecting her passion for music, her devotion to God, and strong faith. Beyond her love of music, she was also a published writer whose creativity and passion for storytelling reflected her thoughtful spirit and vivid imagination.

Marva was a devoted mother whose greatest joy was her family. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was lovingly known as “Granny.” She treasured every moment spent with them, whether baking her favorite desserts, writing stories to spark their imaginations, or proudly cheering them on in all of their pursuits. Through her unwavering love, gentle encouragement, and countless cherished moments, she created a legacy of memories that her family will carry with them always.

On Friday, July 31^st, 2026, at the age of 80, Marva passed away peacefully at her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Marva was preceded in death by her mother, Loretta Maragret Witt; father, Herman Douglas Witt; and sister, Vivian Louise Witt.

To cherish her memory, Marva leaves her daughter, Patricia Eugenia “Gina” Finn of Tulsa, OK; son, Brian Douglas Johnson of Seattle, Washington; two (2) grandsons: Leland Finn, of Oklahoma City, OK and Jordan Barnes, of Tulsa, OK; two (2) granddaughters: Cidney Trotter of Oklahoma City, OK and Aliceva Johnson, of Bellevue, Washington; two (2) great grandsons, Landon Finn and Carson Finn, of Oklahoma City, OK.
