Obituary
In Loving Memory of
Marion Adams Bowie
July 31, 1940 – January 13, 2026
On July 31, 1940, a beautiful baby girl was born to Aubrey Adams and Thelma Jefferson. They named her Marion Adams, the cherished eldest child of eleven children.
Marion attended Tulsa Public Schools and later graduated from Booker T Washington High School. She met and married the love of her life, Jacob Jr. Bowie, and together they shared 52 years of marriage, building a strong and loving family. From this union, Marion became the proud mother of eleven children.
A lifelong learner, Marion returned to college in her early sixties to complete her education with a master’s degree, before retiring from the Department of Social Services. In retirement, she embraced life fully, traveling to places across the world and enjoying her greatest roles as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Marion was warm, welcoming, and an open book to family and friends. She was never a stranger to anyone. She shared her life generously with her grandchildren, teaching them how to cook, take car rides, enjoy sports, and most importantly, how to love. Family was her lifestyle, and her legacy of love and devotion will live on for generations.
As her health began to fail, Marion transitioned peacefully to eternal rest.
Preceded in Death
Marion was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey Adams and Thelma Jefferson; her husband, Jacob Bowie Jr.; her sons, James Adams, Raymond Bowie, and Jacob Bowie III; her granddaughter, Brittany Nears; her grandson, Patrick Bowie; her brothers, Chester Adams and Lenard Adams; her sisters, Avis Adams, Sharon Adams, Eirner Lee Garrison, Amanda Parker, and Lenora Barnes, and her nephew, Aubrey Adams of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Left to Cherish Her Memory
To cherish her memory; Marion leaves her sisters Avery Adams and Arlene Glover, and her brother Delbert Adams, of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She also leaves her loving children:
Joseph Bowie and wife Lora, Allan Bowie, Anthony Bowie of Orlando, Florida, Lucille Bowie, Irene Bowie, Nigel Bowie, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Her grandchildren include Marcus Bowie, David Bowie, Richard Bowie, Alexander Bowie, Avis Bowie, Tiffany Bowie, Andrew Bowie, Deon Bowie, Lacresha Bowie, Latoya Bowie, and Miles Bowie of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Thomas Bowie of Oklahoma City; Anthony Bowie Jr., Brooke Bowie, and Chad Bowie of Houston, Texas; along with a total of 36 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by 23 nieces, 14 nephews, her brother-in-law Louis Bowie and wife Mable Bowie of Tulsa, and her sister-in-law Hazel Bowie of Virginia.
Marion Adams Bowie lived a life of love, strength, faith, and family. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
In Loving Memory
A Loving Tribute
In our hearts, we think of you today,
And with love that never fades away.
There is nothing new, yet all feels true—
Our thoughts are always filled with you.
We thought of you yesterday
And the days before that, too.
In moments of silence,
We often speak your name, Mommy.
Now all we have are memories
And your picture in a frame.
Your memories are our keepsake,
Treasured forever, never the same.
God has you in His keeping,
And we have you in our hearts.
We love you deeply, Mommy,
Though distance keeps us apart.
Love and miss you always, Mommy.
Forever loved. Forever remembered.
