Obituary

Visitation for Mrs. Brooks will be held on Thursday, March 9, 5:00 p.m. – 8:00p.m., at Butler-Stumpff & Dyer Funeral Home, 2103 E. 3rd St., Tulsa, OK 74104.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 10, 1:00 p.m., at Christ Gospel Church followed by interment at Green Acres Memorial Gardens.

Katherlene Brooks was born in Hallsville, Texas October 19, 1947 to Callie Marie and Walter Lee Nero Sr. She came into this world with her identical twin sister Katherine nipping at her heels.

The family later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where she attended Booker T Washington High School. Upon graduation, she attended Tulsa Junior College where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Accounting.

In the summer of 1968, she married Michael LeRoy Miles Sr. in a double wedding with her twin sister.  This union produced two children, Teresa Louise Miles and Michael LeRoy Miles Jr.  Later this marriage dissolved and Katherlene found love again when she met and married Clarence Brooks, Jr.  He came with a few bundles of joy to bless the household: Sharon Diane Cannon, Tinesha Lynn Wilridge, Lawrence Edward Brooks, and Kevin Lee Brooks; who grew in love to call Katherlene mom.

Katherlene took that degree in accounting and became an accountant for several oil firms, aircraft companies, and even a phone company. Her last career adventure did not have an opening in accounting yet they saw potential in her and offered her the receptionist position. It was assuredly a “God Thang”. Here she found a home and impacted the lives of employees and vendors alike with her warmth and firmness.

Katherlene was proceeded in death by her father Walter Lee Nero Sr.; her mother Callie Marie Bradley; her three brothers Wilfred L Nero, Walter L Nero Jr., and Henry Lee Shaw; her twin sister Katherine Jackson; and her husband Clarence Brooks Jr.

She leaves to carry on her love and legacy, her daughters Teresa Louise Miles, Sharon Diane Cannon (Johnny), and Tinesha Lynn Wilridge (), and her sons, Michael LeRoy Miles Jr. (Florence), Lawrence Edward Brooks, and Kevin Lee Brooks. Her grandchildren Marques D Miles (Brooke), Chanel B Guthrie (Jason), Daisha N Miles, Alex Lockett, Gayle Lockett, Brentya D Alexander (Jermon), Tasha Evers (Joe), and Precious Cannon, Jalil L Brooks, Sr. (Kia), Christian L Brooks, Christopher L Brooks, Victoria Canavan (Bryan).

There are also several great-grandchildren, godchildren, and special people that adopted Katherlene as their mother, grandmother, and sister that are cherished and loved that will love her forever.

She was a great friend, a devoted confidant, and a praying mother. She will be forever missed.
