Jamesella Wilson Stone was born January 10, 1950, to James Wilson and Benella Wilson at Moton Memorial Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jamesella was the second of three children. Jamesella grew up in Tulsa, and as a teenager, Jamesella was always active. She loved swimming, track, and softball. Her mother would make sure she and her sister went to overnight summer camp every summer, where she was again very active. She attended Dunbar Elementary School, George Washington Carver Junior High, and the historic Bookie T. Washington High School. Although she did not finish high school, she decided to get her G.E.D. After receiving her G.E.D she went to cosmetology school. After completing school, she opened her own salon shop, and she did very well.

A few years later, she gave birth to a beautiful red-headed baby boy, Gary Chandler Wilson. She later married Larry Stone and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Neva Marie Stone. She loved and cherished her beautiful children. Her mother, Benella Wilson, was a very proud and loving grandmother; she helped Jamesella whenever she needed it. After a few more years, she gave birth to another handsome baby boy, James Allen Hill.

Jamesella was a devoted member for 20 years of the New Life Christian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, under the leadership of Pastor Donald Homady. If you ever knew or met Jamesella, then you would know that she loved her church family and was totally devoted and submissive to the leadership. You would always know that she was in the building or nearby, because she would give a very loud shout-out saying, “HALLELUJAH!! THANK YOU JESUS! GOD IS GOOD!!”

Jamesella would bring people into her home and feed them. After doing an overseas tour, I went to visit her. When I arrived, there were several people in her kitchen. I asked, “Who are all these people?” She replied, “I don’t know.” I then asked, “What are they doing in your house?” She said, “They were hungry, so I’m feeding them.” She had a Heart of Love for those who were less fortunate. THAT WAS MY SISTER

Our loss, but Heaven’s gain

On August 26, 2026, Jamesella transitioned peacefully to her Heavenly Home. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Benella Wilson; son, Gary Wilson; aunt, Endma Strassner; brother, Donald Ray Driver, Sr., who lovingly cared for his sister until his health declined; and brother-in-law, Marshall Lee.

Jamesella leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Neva Jacobs; her son, James Allen Hill; her sister, Joan Lee; Allen Hill, Larry Stone, and a host of grandchildren, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, her church family, and a host of friends.
