Obituary

Pastor Imogene R. Ferguson (Jean) was born in Los Angeles, CA. on February 2nd, 1953, a daughter to Geraldine Hytche and Reuben Smith, and raised by Geraldine Hytche and Goldman Hytche (Step Father). She was blessed to be raised in a Christian home where she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 6. Where she began her life-long journey following the path of Jesus Christ.

Pastor Imogene Ferguson attended Nursing school in Sioux City, Iowa where she became a Registered R.N. Although stern dedicated and committed God called Jean to preach. She was led by God to venture back to Tulsa, Oklahoma in the summer of 1988, with her children to preach the word of God which she did so for 30+ years with her church she founded, Pentecostal Way Church.

Pastor Imogene Ferguson was a woman of God and was a loving and giving mother who ruled with a strong hand, because of her having ten children. Having a full house kept her in the kitchen, which she developed a relationship with cooking and baking. That love for people and cooking flourished out into the streets and shelters all over Tulsa, Oklahoma. Where she provided free meals and prayers to the less fortunate.

Pastor Imogene Ferguson had a nurturing soul. Not only with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, but with her garden as well. She could turn a seed and dirt into a flourishing garden. Pastor Jean was known for her proliferate farm where she became amazed with the meaning and stature of her animals, especially her roosters.

Being a woman of many talents and bearing many coats Pastor Jean always left people with ling stating impressions. She lived by the term “Reach the Unreachable and Touch the Untouchable” as she incorporated it into her life as a daughter, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and remarkable friend.

On a beautiful Sunday morning, Pastor Imogene R. Ferguson was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday March 20th, 2022 at the rightful age 69.

Pastor Imogene Ferguson is preceded by her parents, Goldman and Geraldine Hytche; two brothers, Warren and George Hytche and two sisters, Kathy Hytche and Pastor Carolyn Ballenger; son, Cornelius Sones-Ferguson; and grandchild, Caleb Pearson.

Pastor Jean is survived by her nine children, Vera (Robert) Pearson, Geraldine (James) Sones-Rogers, Leslie Sones, Mary Sones, Lafayette Sones, Paul Ferguson, Noel Ferguson all of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Joel (Shelby) Ferguson, Killeen, Texas and Bobby (Jessica) Brown, Tulsa Oklahoma; six brothers, Albert Jerry Smith, Omaha, Nebraska, Anthony P. Smith, Daniel A. Hytche (Danny) both of Houston, Texas, Trent A. Smith, Me’cle White both of Omaha, Nebraska and Donald Ray Hytche, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four sisters, Vanessa Hytche-Davis, Clarissa White both of Omaha, Nebraska, Torsie Hytche, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Carol Hubbard, Dallas, Texas as well as a host grandchildren, great-grandchildren and cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.

Visitation for Ms. Ferguson will be held on Thursday, March 31, 10:00 – 8:00 p.m., at Butler-Stumpff & Dyer Funeral Home, 2103 E. 3rd St., Tulsa, OK 74104.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 1, 2:00 p.m., at Butler-Stumpff & Dyer Memorial Chapel, 2103 E. 3rd St., Tulsa, OK 74104.
