Obituary

In Loving Memory of Evelyn Aloyce Johnson

July 3, 1950 – May 22, 2023

Evelyn Aloyce Johnson was born on July 3,1950, to William Clee Johnson and Henrietta Johnson in Bixby, Oklahoma. She was the oldest child of seven children, born into this union.

Evelyn attended Charles S. Johnson Elementary School, Carver Junior High School, and Central High School. Evelyn was the proud mother of two beautiful daughters, Anita and Angela. As a young mother, she decided to move to Vallejo, California, to be with her Aunt Bertha Mae Johnson and Uncle Raymond Johnson. While in Vallejo, she became a member of Rehoboth Church of God in Christ, where her Pastor was the late Perless Jefferson. She worked various jobs but enjoyed working as a nurse aide the most. While living in Vallejo, she enjoyed family gatherings over dinner and fellowship.

In 2012, Evelyn decided to move back to Tulsa to be with her daughters and grandchildren. Evelyn enjoyed coordinating  the holiday dinners and birthday celebrations with the family and made sure she called everyone to keep them abreast on who was coming to dinner and who was cooking which dish.

Evelyn lived a life that was defined by compassion. She would try to help those in need however she could. Her warmth and affection created a haven of love and acceptance where those who knew her valued her embrace.

Evelyn touched the lives of many with her kindness and generosity. She was a true friend to those fortunate enough to know her, always ready to lend a listening ear, offer a comforting embrace, or provide words of wisdom. Her spirit of compassion radiated outward, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed her path.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Henrietta, and two sisters, Brenda Joy Johnson and Michelle Lynn Jordan.

She leaves to cherish memories of two daughters, Anita Grayson and Angela Boswell (Grayson) of Tulsa, OK, and son-in-love, Dane Boswell. Two grandchildren, Dane Boswell II and Carrington Boswell. Siblings are Wilma Goree, Karen Johnson, Phillip Jordan, and Tonia Jordan, all from Tulsa, OK, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
