Obituary

Etta Jean Akins was born March 8, 1936 to Edgar and Rosie Fleeks in Fort Towson, Ok. She attended Hugo Public schools, and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School class of 1955 in Hugo, Ok.

She was married to Ennis Akins Jr. in 1965 and to this union two sons were born. She worked in food service until she retired in 1995. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, and spending time with her family. She was a member of Obedient Christian Center for several years and spent the remainder of her life residing at Grace Living Center (Jenks, Ok).

She was preceded in death by: Her mother Rosie Davis, her son Claudie E. Akins, grandson Quantan D. Akins, two sisters Emma B. Brown and Annie M. Green, two brothers Robert Fleeks (R.J) and W.D. Lyons.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory: Her daughter, Shirley Pittman (Clarence D. Pittman), son Ronnie Akins, daughter/granddaughter Claudie A. Akins-Cherry, 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren a nephew Elester Brown Jr. host of cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at the Butler-Stumpff & Dyer Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, November 14, 2020 in the Chapel of Butler-Stumpff & Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Green Acres Memorial Gardens.
