Obituary

Donald Lee Nowlin Sr. (YoYo) born on July 27, 1940 to Lonnie Nowlin Sr. to Olivia Nowlin, Don as he was known to family and friends was the oldest of their 3 children. Don attended elementary school at Dunbar, he finished high school at Booker T. Washington class of 1959. Don (YoYo) loved baseball from the time he started playing in middle school through his time in the semi pro league. Don also played snare drum in the band while at Carver and Booker T. Washington High School.

Don married Brenda Bell the love of his life on July 27, 1962. To this union two children were born Donald Lee Jr and Brandi LaDawn. Don was drafted to the U.S. Army in 1966 where he served for 2 years. Upon his discharged from the Army, he began his career at OTASCO in 1968 and worked his way up to become the first black supervisor in the warehouse. Don later joined TJC, he eventually settled in as the events coordinator at OSU Tulsa where he remained until he retired in 2005.

Don leaves to cherish his memory his beautiful wife of 59 years Brenda, and his children Donald Jr (Acquanetta), Brandi, grandkids: Daria, Amiri, Donald III(Tre), Brenden, Davin (Dae Dae), a host of family and friends.

  1. As Far As I Can Remember Don Nowlin One Of My Favorite Family Members Always Keep A Frowned Smile On His Face If You Will. He Was Nice And Kind To Me And My Family. I Was Honored To Work With Him For A Few Years At Ucat Now Osu-Tulsa Where He Kept My Spirits Lifted And We Joked/Laughed At Every Meeting. The Heavens Are Gaining A Hardworking, Fun-Loving Family Man That Will Be Missed By All Who Knew Him. Bless His Friend Me And Family During This Most Difficult Time.

  2. Praying For You Guys Today Lb. I Still Remember Meeting Mr. Nowlin Back In 1995 When We Were On Line. He Was A Humble Man That Raised Two Humble Kids That Made Him Proud.
