Derrick Jeron Burks, affectionately known as “Uncle D” was born March 1, 1969 to Billy and Marion Burks.

Derrick attended Eugene Fields Elementary School, Clinton Middle School and Webster & Central High School.

He enjoyed playing pool and working at the community center where he lived, serving lunches through the summer program, under the leadership of the late Robert Fairchild. He also enjoyed playing ping pong at Lincoln Park trying to beat his cousin MeMe.

He worked for Safeway & Homeland groceries, Alphs, Target, Midwestern Manufacturing, Pepsi, Aaon, and Paragon Industries Inc.
