Obituary

On September 18, 1958, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, a precious baby girl was born to Barbara Ann and Bobby Joe Barnes. They named her Carol Jean.

Carol spent seven years of her childhood in Sapulpa, Oklahoma where she attended Booker T. Washington in the 1^st grade. She attended the 2^nd grade at Woodlawn Elementary School in Sapulpa where she was among 6 other family members who were the first to integrate the school in 1965.  Carol moved to Tulsa in the fall of 1965 where she would go on to graduate from Booker T. Washington High School with honors.

One of the joys in Carol’s life was the birth of her son Kionte Jermaine. She was an example of dedication, a patient and loving daughter who took great care of her mother. She also helped care for her father during his illness. Carol had an extensive doll collection.  She absolutely loved music, sewing, and making clothes for her dolls. Carol had a quiet and reserved spirit, to know her was to love her.

Carol was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Joe Barnes and brother, James Ray.

She leaves to celebrate and cherish precious memories her son: Kionte Jermaine, her mother, Barbara Ann, 3 brothers, Terry Lee, Larry Wayne (Arthetta), and Bobby Jewel; 4 grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
