Amie Ezel Kinmon

Sunrise May 26, 1935 – Sunset July 29, 2023.

Amie Ezel Kinmon, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, peacefully passed away on July 29, 2023 at the age of 88. She fought a courageous battle against cancer for three years, and now she has entered into eternal life joining her loved ones who preceded her in death.

Amie was born on May 26, 1935, in Pennington, Texas to Alice Evans and Simon Kinmon. She grew up in a close-knit family, and her siblings JD “LeRoy”, Ernestine , Helen, Darlene, Lucille, and Lee Artis, were her lifelong companions.  Amie’s early years were filled with love, laughter, and the values that shaped her character and guided her throughout her life.

Amie worked in many different capacities during her work career, including being a cook, housekeeper, domestic, and personal caregiver. After her mother’s stroke, she moved to California to provide care to her until she passed.  She eventually moved back to Oklahoma where she was very active in the lives of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephew.

Whether it was a chance encounter or a conversation with an old friend, she had an uncanny knack for making a lasting impression on others. Through her quick wit, funny one-liners, and storytelling, she could make the most rigid person laugh and feel at ease. She truly had a gift for making people feel seen, heard, and understood.

Her culinary skills were legendary, and she found joy in cooking and feeding people throughout her life.  Her delicious meals brought people together and created lasting memories.  No one ever left her house hungry or without a plate for later.

She had a love for reading that started as a young child and continued throughout her life. She immersed herself in books, often finding solace, inspiration, and knowledge within their pages. She delighted in the written word and encouraged her daughter and grandchildren to do the same.

Amie was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Cyinitha S. Williams. Although her heart carried the pain of this loss, Amie drew strength from her cherished memories of Cyinitha.  Now reunited they will forever watch over their family with love and pride.

Amie leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion, survived by her sister Helen Jean Kinmon, brother Lee Artis Kinmon (Dottie). Five grandchildren (Clarence Kinmon, Maya Kinmon-Finch (Robert), Christopher Williams, Nicholas Williams, and Jeremy Williams (Tracy)), ten great-grandchildren (Brittni, Paislei, MeShayla, Korbin, Hadrian, Sydney, Jordyn, Alexis, Jeremy Jr., Chase),  two great-great grandchildren (Imani and Peighton) and numerous blessed nephews, nieces, and cousins who cherished her love and affection.

Amie’s life was one of selflessness, kindness, and faith. Her memory will be forever etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. As we grieve her loss, we find solace in knowing that she has found eternal peace and has been warmly welcomed into the arms of her mother (Alice), father (Simon), sisters (Ernestine, Lucille and Darlene), brother (JD “LeRoy”) and daughter (Cyinitha).

A private memorial service to celebrate Amie’s life will be held on 09/09/2023 at her granddaughter’s home. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Porta Caeli House, as a tribute to Amie’s lifelong spirit of giving and caring.

In our heart, Amie’s love will continue to shine brightly, guiding and reminding us to be kind to others, just as she did throughout her life.  We find solace in knowing that the battle is won and she can now rest.
