Obituary

Dorothy Mae Jeffries was born on June 5,1928, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, to her-loving parents AI & Carrie Reed Woods. Dorothy was the first daughter born, later followed by her sister Maxine. Dorothy accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and savior at an early age at the family home church in Okmulgee. The Woods family relocated to the South Haven Community, and Dorothy attended school at South Haven Elementary, Carver, and graduated from the History Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After completing her studies, Dorothy met Wardell Sr., and after a beautiful courtship they were married in 1948, and to this union 7 children were born daughters Juanita, Sharon, Rhonda, Sandra, and Hope, sons Wardell Jr. and Dwight. While her children were growing up, she prided herself in taking care of her home and children. During her years as a member at Mt. Olive, Dorothy served the church as pianist. Years later the Jeffries family relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma and joined membership with Shiloh Baptist Church (North Tulsa) where she was a faithful member active in Women’s Ministry, Lydia’s Circle, was pianist for Voices of Praise (choir) and Angelic Voices (Children’s Choir). Once her children where old enough to care for themselves, Dorothy returned to school to complete her training for Pharmacist Assistant and was employed by Bowser’s Prescription Shop and Moton Health Center/Pharmacy and later Nanny to John, Ryan, and Tyler, whom she loved like her own children. On Thursday, February 1, 2018, surrounded by her family God called Dorothy home to be with Him.
