Obituary

Rev. James F. Gunnells, Sr. 87 of Tulsa, Oklahoma a Veteran/Truck driver has passed on Saturday in Garland, Texas.

Rev.James F..Gunnells, Sr. Services will be Saturday January 6, 2018 12:00 noon at New Jerusalem Baptist Church 3427 N. Birmingham Ave.Tulsa, Oklahoma 74107.

Visitation will be Friday 3:00pm til 8:00pm at Butler-Stumpff- Dyer Funeral Home, Crematory and Cemetery 2103 East 3rd St. Tulsa, Oklahoma 74104.

Burial will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens “When caring truly matters, DYER cares.” 918-425-5549.

James Freddie Gunnells

James Freddie Gunnells was born July 20, 1930, to Franklin and Bertha Abrams-Gunnells in Spring Valley Arkansas. James was the 7th child out of 11 children. James accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at an early age at Spring Valley Baptist Church in Spring Valley Arkansas.

James attended school in Spring Valley went to the 12th grade after attending school James joined the U.S Armed Forces in 1948 and was honorably discharged in April of 1952 after serving in the Korean War of 1950.

After leaving the U.S Armed Forces James later married Jewerlean Byers together they were blessed with 7 children who will cherish his memories, daughters, Bertha Gunnells, of Elsmere KY., Brenda Gunnells, of Temple, TX., Darlene Gunnells-Howard of Garland, TX., Jane Tyler (Michael) of Garland, TX.; one son, James R. Gunnells (Terri) of Mesquite, TX., daughter, Roxanne Gunnells, of Garland, TX., and daughter, Ramonna Gunnells, Garland, TX. James has 17 grand-children and 12 great-grand-children.

James later married Ruth Robinson who had two sons, Donald Brown (Cheryl) of Garland, TX., and Mark Brown of Tulsa, OK.

James departed this life on December 23rd 2017 at Pleasant Valley Nursing Home in Garland Tx. He also leaves to cherish his memory one sister, Evelyn Gunnells-Johnson (William) of Omaha, NE. and a host of relatives to cherish his life nieces, nephew, great nieces and great nephew, grand-children and great-grand-children.

Preceded in death James parents, Franklin and Bertha Abrams Gunnells first wife Jewerlean Byers-Gunnells, grand-daughter Jasmine Gunnells, 4 sisters Taulease Gunnells, Louise Gunnells-Toney, Bernice Gunnells-Edwards and Gerta Lee Gunnells and 5 brothers Thurman Gunnells, Herman Gunnells, Johnny Gunnells, Albert Gunnells and Carl Gunnells.
