Elizabeth Lorraine Steward Johnson was the youngest of twins born to Thomas Steward and Irene Minter-Steward on February 26, 1931 in Depew, Oklahoma.

Elizabeth’s Christian values contributed to her being born in a Christian family. Therefore, when she professed her love for Christ and united with Little Creek Baptist Church no one was surprised. She loved to sing with her head held high; she would lead favorite song, “Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah”. Always ready to pray and lead devotion.

She graduated from Stroud Separate High School, May 1950, the first in her family to do so. March 3, 1951, she married her sweetheart, Ogies Curtis Johnson, the young couple move to Tulsa, Oklahoma. To this union one daughter and two sons was born. They shared 53 years of marriage. Elizabeth displayed many talents working in areas of Food Service and The Grand parenting Program at Frost Elementary School. Elizabeth didn’t let her job take her away from Christ. She joined St. Peter Baptist Church and immediately went to work serving in several capacities, choir member, President of the Women’s Ministry, devotion leader and Sunday school.

After many years of service, Elizabeth’s health changed in 2008. Still “strong — willed” she didn’t give up easily. She resided in South Rehabilitation Center, however she continued to singing, leading prayer and other activities in church. On Friday, January 27, 2017, she closed her bible and sang her last song on this side.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Irene Steward, her husband; Ogies C. Johnson; three children, Mauranda, Ogies C. Jr. and Casper Paul; two brothers, Jessie and Thomas (Bubba) Steward and two sisters, Laura Vasher and Elizabeth McFee.

She leaves to cherish her memory, nieces, Laura Ann (Manuel) Peeples, Jr., Lillian Ann (Kyle) Peterson; nephew, Kenneth Neal (Ruth) Green, five grandchildren; Curtis Lance Johnson, Daiel T. Johnson, Cassine D. Johnson, Corey D. Johnson and Dahlia D. Johnson. She also leaves great-grandchildren an enormous number of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends
