Obituary
Mrs. Gloria D. Brown 62 of Tulsa, Oklahoma “Heard the Trumpet sounding for her to come and rest. On Thanksgiving Day with family and angels by her side. Her celebration was: Saturday December 3, 2016 at 2:00pm in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Senior Pastor Rev. Michael Jackson,eulogist. Burial: Crown Hill Cemetery
On July 22, 1954 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, God smiled on Norris and Geraldine Evans with the birth of a beautiful baby girl who would be named Gloria Dean Evans. Gloria would be the first daughter born to this union. She attended Oklahoma City Public Schools until the family decided to make the move to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1971. Gloria attended Booker T. Washington High School and was a proud member of the Class of 1972. She met and married Keith Brown in 1975, to this union four children were born. Gloria was employed by Tulsa Public Schools until she retired in 2013. However, after retiring from Tulsa Public Schools, she return to work with AARP. Gloria enjoyed cooking, watching sports and Teen Mom. Her biggest joy was spending time with her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother aunt and friend to all she encountered. She was a proud member of Greater Mount Carmel Baptist Church and she loved the Lord. Preceding her in death is her parents; Norris and Geraldine Evans, one brother; Pete Evans, three nephews; Brandon Tharps, Samuel King, and Demarco Evans; one niece, Keshonda Tharps. Leaving to cherish her memory are her four beautiful children; LaKisha Evans, Tameka Brown, Douglas (Tamika) Brown, and LaShonda Brown. thirteen grandchildren; Traveon, Keontae, Jasmine, Tyree, Shaakil, Khalil, Brianna, Tashaya, Travis, Jacobi, Koldin, Jaida, and Daron. four great-grandchildren; Tyree Jr., Arionna, Justis, J’Brielle. six sisters; Donice Carroll, Rita Tharps, and Janice(Ray) Daniels all of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Joyce (Michael) Nelson of Kansas City, Mo., Lois (Sam) King of Gould, Ark., Sylvia Wallace of Long Beach, CA., four brothers; Michael (Kathy) Evans and Mark Evans of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Norris (Cynthia) Lacy of Gaffney, South Carolina, Carl(Gracie) Evans of Gould, Arkansas, three aunts, Barbara Youngblood, Louise Youngblood and Lorene Youngblood of Los Angeles, California. her bonus daughters, Thelmesha Evans and Dana Williams; and special family and friends in her life; Nate and Ruby Carlis, Carl Tharps, Robert Robinson, Rachel Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
