Obituary

At 3:18am On September 9, 2016″ The roll was called for the name of Mrs. Laura B. Green-Vasher 90, to come laid her burden down.

Laura Bell Steward Green-Vasher was the first child born to the union of Thomas Steward and Irene Minter-Steward on January 4, 1926 in Mesa, Arizona. The family moved to Depew, Oklahoma and she attended Stroud Pubic Schools.

Laura was born into a Christian family, she professed her love for Christ at an early age and united with Little Creek Baptist Church. She moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1947, where she met Thomas J. Green and later married and joined Wesley Methodist Church. They shared 44 years of blissful marriage, and to this union 4 children was born. Thomas preceded her in death. She later married Elbert W. Vasher, Jr. they shared 10 loving years of marriage. During her life she was a devoted wife, and mother, she was a committed homeroom mother for all of children during their educational years. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Women’s Mission, worked with Vacation Bible School, and she was a caller on the Bereavement Committee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Irene Steward, Thomas J. Green, Thomas J. Green, Jr., her brothers, Jessie Steward and Thomas (Bubba) Steward and one sister, Elizabeth McFee.

She leaves to cherish her memory, Elbert Vasher, Jr. (husband): her children, Laura Ann (Manuel) Peeples, Jr., Lillian Ann (Kyle) Peterson, and Kenneth Neal (Ruth) Green: one sister, Elizabeth L. Johnson: one daughter-in-law, Cinda Green. She also leaves five grandchildren; Colette R, Peeples, Rochelle D. Peterson, Keith A. Peterson (Nicole), Michael J. Peeples, LaShonda D. Peterson: six great-grandchildren, Tori, Keith, Jr., Kyle, Camden, Nikayla and Justin. She also leaves a host of other relatives and friends.
