“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”
2 Timothy 4: 7-8
God saw that Wilbur was getting tired and on Sunday June 26, 2016 he slept away peacefully to be with his heavenly father.

Wilbur Lee Phillips was born February 11, 1930 to William and Viola Phillips of Okmulgee County. Wilbur is the 7th born of 15 children and is also the identical twin brother to William Phillips who proceeded him in death.

Wilbur attended grade school at Hallie Elementary and graduated from Grayson High School. In Wilbur’s early years, him and his twin enjoyed playing tricks on each other. They truly enjoyed being together, dressing alike, and would even purchase the same cars. Wilbur had a smile that was as big as the sun and was guaranteed to brighten anyone’s day. He was loved and cherished by all that knew him. During his early adult hood Wilbur was inducted into the army and served his country honorably.

On November 25, 1950 he married his soul mate Mable Gennice Freeman. This beautiful union produced 5 children. He was a long time member of St. Andrew Baptist Church. Wilbur was a dedicated employee at Swift Industries for 27 years until they closed down. Then he went on to work and retire from Ford Glass Plant after 20 years of service. After retirement he spent his time doing what he loved, gardening, landscaping, and spending time with his loved ones.

Wilbur Phillips is preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, 4 brothers, and 3 children.
He leaves to cherish in his memory his wife Mable Phillips, 2 children Martha Ann Smith and Wilbur Lee Junior Phillips, two sisters Mattie Barnette, Esther Ashbury, three brothers Ruben Phillips, Benjamin Phillips, and Lester Phillips. Numerous grandkids, great grandkids, great great grand kids who knew and loved him as “Papa”. As well as an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Wilbur we love you and will forever miss you…
