On February 27, 1919 a baby girl was born to Benny and Cora Smith, in Palestine, Texas. They named her Nancy Jane, she was the second of six children.

Nancy received her education in the Texas Public School System. At a very early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and she dedicated her life to the Lord.

Nancy was united in marriage to Clifton Tarver, to this union seven children were born.

The family moved to Tulsa, where Nancy united with Liberty Baptist Church, under the pastorage of Rev. Clint Simmons and later Rev. Bobby Kendrick, Jr. She was a faithful and dedicated member until her health failed. She loved working in various capacities of the church but more than anything she loved serving as an usher, greeting people with the love of God.

She later gave birth to three more children, Nathaniel Russell Tarver and twin girls, Doris Ann and Lois Ann Tarver.

Nancy Jane Tarver made that transition from earth to heaven and joined her parents, Benny and Cora Smith, her husband Willie Clifton Tarver; four brothers, James Smith, Jesse Smith, Fred Smith and David Smith; one sister, Beatrice Bowman; three daughter, Mildred Tarver, Thelma Green and Sally Mae Hamilton; four grandchildren, Aaron Louis Tarver, Adrian Russell — Tarver, Sammy Lee Berry and Linda Marie Hamilton.

She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Willie Mae Hoffman, Cora Lee Harris, Doris Ann Tarver, Lois Ann; three sons, Clifton Tarver, Louis (Vernita Jean) Tarver; and Nathaniel Russell-Tarver of Edmond, Ok. Nineteen grandchildren, thirty-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Nancy’s favorite Old Testament scripture: The 23 Psalm and Favorite Song; “Going Up Yonder”.
