Edwina Yvette (Winnie) Wilson was born in Taft Oklahoma on April 2, 1939, to her loving parents Richard Wilson & Catherine Nadine Wilson. At the age of four, Winnie moved with her family to Kansas City Missouri, and lived there until she was nine years old, then her family moved back to Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

Winnie attended church regularly with her family. At the age of 12, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined membership with Antioch Baptist Church, under the leadership of pastor Montgomery. She was affiliated with the Starlight Band and the GA (Girls Auxiliary) until the age of 14.

Winnie received her formal education with Fort Gibson school district, and was agraduate with the Class of 1955. After completing High School, Winnie took employment with the Department of Health and Outreach, and Family Planning, before retiring in 1972. After she retired, she went back to work for 10 years at the Eagles Nest Club. Throughout her life, she persued her education. Being a single parent she always wanted to provide a better life for her family. She continued her studies as a student at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Ok, and after years of hard work and dedication, she finally received an Associates degree in business, graduating with the class of 1970.

Winnie was very much involved in her community. She was affiliated with the motorcycle club, and the Champagne Social Club. Some of her most enjoyable times were spent with her children Kenneth and Vivian, along with other family members and friends. She enjoyed fishing, dancing and playing pool.

On Sunday, March 24, 2013, Winnie departed the life and went home to eternal rest. She was met a heaven’s gate by her parents, her baby sister, who passed away at birth, a brother-in-law Rufus Smith, along with her family members.

She leaves behind to carry on her legacy of love, her father Richard Wilson Kansas City; one son Kenneth R. Wilson, one daughter Vivian Wilson, both of Tulsa; 3 grandchildren Consuelo (Connie) Wilson; Kenika Traylor, both of Tulsa; Rodney Lewis, Texas 2 great grandchildren Shaniqaua Wilson; Kendrick Gray, both of Tulsa 3 step grandson’s Kevin Williams, Victor Bell; both of Tulsa, Dion Foster, great grand daughters, Kayla Maupin Danielle Foster both of Tulsa, one sister Mildred Smith; brother Leon “Red”(Leona) Wilson, Tahlequah Ok; 2 nieces Kerdenda (Greg) and Robin of KCMo, one aunt Viola Berry, Tulsa Ok, 6 great nieces, 2 great nephews, and a host of other family members and friends.

Viewing Friday, March 29, 2013,
1:00-7:00 pm.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013, 10:00 am
at Dyer Chapel.

Interment: Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Rev. Walter Brown Jr. Officiating.
