Obituary

The Life and Legacy of Mr. Aaron Walter Hunter Sr.

It was during the hot summer month of August, that I was born the 5th day of 1947. I was the oldest son to my loving parents Marvia D. Barnett and Rev. C.W. Reece. I was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and lived here until I was about 4 years old, then my parents and I moved to Watts, California.

During my younger days I received my schooling in California. When I became a teenager, I moved back to Tulsa Oklahoma to attend the Historic Booker T. Washington High School were I graduated in 1965.

After high School I enlist4ed in the United States Army. My tours of duty took me to places such as Thailand and Germany. Meanwhile I met a beautiful young lady, by the name of Alice Stedham. She stole my heart and gave me my first son Marcus in 1967. “If the truth be told”, Alice was the only person that truly understood me, and that’s why I married her , and made her my wife in 1969.

My family would tell you, “that I was Old School”. I believed in a strong work ethic and taught my son’s the same philosophy. I told them to love strong, especially their mother, she was a queen and their friend; and to always treat her with respect and dignity, and they did. Alice, the love of my life, my father, and my brother-in-aw Williams Stedham preceded me in death. I attended church regularly at the In the
Spirit Christian Church, until my health began to fail. “Yes I had a relationship with God” and I knew him as my Personal Savior.

I leave to reflect on my passing, my mother my son’s Marcus (Brenda) Kyle (Chenell) Aaron, and Kevin, 8 grandchildren, 2 brothers-in-laws, 1 sister-in-law, mother-in-law Lorraine Gilmore, and a host of other relatives and friends.
