Obituary

Mrs. Leatha Fields-Elbert,a special lady transitioned to eternity on Sunday, November 27, 2011 from Southcrest Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

She was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on August 12, 1926 to her parents James and Christine Fields, and was noted as being the first born of eight children.

She attended Okmulgee Schools. She united with the Mt. Zion Baptist Church at an early age. At the age of 19, she married Leroy Bemore Sr., which under this union two children were born. Leroy Bemore Jr. and Leola Bemore. She later united with the Hebrew Isralite Branch of Jerusalem, in Tulsa, Ok. where she became the first mother of the church under the leadership of Rabbi Leroy Bemore Jr.

Years later three other children were born, Elnora, Earl and Earnest Fields, joined the family. She later married Clarence Elbert Sr., and to this union Christine, Feraldine, Georgia and Nathaniel completed the family tree.

Leatha was a homemaker she loved cooking, sewing and attending church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Georgia Elbert, one sister Rebecca Carter, step-daughter Essie Mae, and step brother Jessie.

She leaves to mourn her passing her children, Leola Bemore, Rusell (Ledall) Leroy Bemore Jr., Elnora Daniels (Bobby); Earl Fields; Ernie Fields; Christine Barnes; Feraldine Fields; Nathaniel Elbert, grandson Earnest Williams III, whom she raised, and step son Clarence Elbert Jr.

Leaving behind to carry on her legacy 24 grand children, 27 great grands, and 2 great-great grands. Her siblings three brothers, James Fields Jr., Willie Fields, Tulsa, OK; Grant Griffin, Sr. (Star) Okmulgee, OK; three sisters, Ruby Crowder, Kansas City, KS; Marie Cubie, Kansas City, MO; Ella Louise Griffin, Okmulgee, OK; step brothers & sisters Rebecca Fields; Lucille; Kathy; Zabdee and Jean. A special uncle Mack Foreman (Mable) Kansas City, KS; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday November 30, 1:00-7:00 pm. at Dyer Memorial Chapel.

Services will be held on Thursday 130 pm at The Branch of Jerusalem 2501 E. 27th St.North- Tulsa Ok.
