Obituary

Mr. Darrell D. Young 58 “crossed the Jordon River”on Monday February 20, 2017.

On August 7, 1958 in Beggs, Oklahoma a baby boy was born to Alfonzo and Alma Jean Young. They named him Darrell. Darrell was the second of three children.

Darrell attended John Burroughs Elementary, Horace Mann Junior High and Central High School. After high school Darrell enlisted with the U.S. Army. His M.O.S. duties were Calibration of Equipment and Heavy Truck Operation. Darrell received an Honorable Discharge in 1983. Darrell then served at the army National Guard from 1983-1987. He later found gainful employment with Arrow Trucking Company driving 18 wheelers across the country.

Early in life Darrell accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He united with Spring Bluff Baptist Church in Beggs, Oklahoma and was baptized there. He later united with Greater Union Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma and served on the usher board under the leadership of Rev. S. M. Harnsberry and Rev. M.O. Gerald.

Darrell loved riding motorcycles, living life on the open road as a truck driver, race cars and watching the motorcycle races but simply put.. he enjoyed life.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his parents, Alfonzo and Alma Jean Young: one brother, Harold L. (Jeanie) Young; one sister, Cynthia Manuel. two daughters, Jasmine Rae and LeNedra R. Wilson. five beautiful grandchildren; Christian, Cheyenne, Christopher “CJ”, DeRaeah and Rashawn along with a host of other relatives and friends.

To know him was to love him. He never met a stranger. Darrell touched the lives of many and will be missed by everyone.
